Amazon Tests Package Delivery To Cars

It’s only for Audis in Germany, for now

Tired of having to stay home (or ship to the office) just to collect your online orders? If you live in Germany and drive the right car, you might not have to.

Beginning next month, Amazon will test a way to deliver customers’ packages right to their cars. During the test, an Audi owner with an Internet-connected model would allow workers from the shipping company DHL to pop open their trunk with a one-time keyless code and drop in the package. The DHL driver won’t have access to the rest of the car, which should clear up some security concerns.

This service could be more than a little handy if you’re busy working or visiting family. The trial will only involve a handful of people when it kicks off in early May, but here’s hoping that it expands quickly… the days of staring anxiously at your front door could eventually come to an end.
