Tesla Motors in Latin America
Tesla Motor has more than 50,000 vehicles on the road worldwide and is preparing to launch Model X, a crossover vehicle that enters volume production in 2015. Tesla owners enjoy the benefit of charging at home so they never have to visit a gas station or spend a cent on gasoline.
Tesla’s Supercharger network provides convenient and free access to high speed charging, replenishing half a charge in as little as 20 minutes. Superchargers now connect popular routes in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
A question recently came to mind and I contact Tesla Motors, What about the Latin American market? Has Tesla Motors thought of the sustainable wealthy niche, don’t they see an opportunity in the growing automobile market?
The response I received from a Tesla Motor member was and I quote: “We have no plans to enter the market in Latin America in the short term. While it is Tesla’s intention to be present eventually in nearly all countries, it will take some time to get there: we simply do not have the resources to tackle all challenges at the same time.
Please note that Tesla owns and operates all its sales and service locations worldwide. We do not have dealers, partners, or franchises. Tesla does not plan on changing this strategy in the short to medium term.”- June
This answer makes me realize that Tesla Motor is about quality in manufacturing, product and customer care. This company main focus is the product itself, brand and not the how fast they can capture market share. In my humble opinion, Tesla Motor is a reliable company, as much I would like to see them have a presence in Latin America but I guess we just have to wait.
