Citymapper Is The Best App For Navigating Public Transit

wingz updated

If you rely on public transit to get you around the city, then you probably have this app on your smartphone. I use the app to get around San Francisco, and have no complaints so far.

On Monday, Citymapper got a huge update that’s going to save me and many other commuters a lot of time. The new feature that will tell you where it’s best to get on a train. Already in 28 cities, the travel app combines bus routes and live times, train timetables and cycle paths. But now, it will also help you navigate your way around an unfamiliar city with its new “Where to Get On the Train” feature.

Just open up the app on your phone, and you are good to go. When you embark on a journey using Citymapper’s Go mode, the app will tell you where best to get on a train in order to be close to the exit when you get off. It’s especially useful during rush hour, but also for those who might not understand signage in foreign cities. This feature will be super handy in big subways like New York City, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. While it may make for a more pleasant hop between trains or shave a few extra minutes off your commute, Citymapper can’t yet tell you how busy those particular train cars might be.

It’s definitely in beta testing mode, and Citymapper is open about this.
