Alpine Vision Concept Revealed For Gran Turismo 6

While the Forza guys have the new Ford GT, the team behind Gran Turismo is busy creating more digital cars that know not silly boundaries like marketability or pedestrian safety regulations. Yet, Alpine’s latest is the monoposto of our dreams with some hints of what’s coming next year.
After Aston Martin, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Volkswagen, Nissan, Subaru, Infiniti and Chevrolet, the French felt it was also time to put together their ideal race car, and the result seems miles away from what we should expect from the Renault-Alpine product due in 2016. But is it?
Well, according to the stats, Alpine’s virtual wonder is a single-seater with a carbon monocoque, double wishbones, pushrods, adjustable springs and dampers, a seven-speed sequential gearbox and a 4.5 liter V8 that revs to 7,500rpm and sends 450 horsepower and 427 foot pounds of torque to the rear wheels.
The whole thing weighs just 1,984 pounds (900 kg) distributed evenly with 47 percent at the front and 53% at the rear. Its virtual top speed is claimed to be 200 mph while stopping power comes from 390mm vented discs with six-pot calipers at the front, and 355mm/four-pots at the rear.
That’s a full on race car, not something with a plate. Then again, Renault made this, so who knows?
The Alpine Vision Gran Turismo will be available online from March.
