Who Needs Waves If You Have An Electric Surfboard

Who said water and electricity can’t be friends?

The Lampuga is an electric surfboard that allows for wave cruising in coastal areas, speeding through warm and sunny bays, drifting in cozy lagoons or just enjoying the most relaxing and quiet sunbath ever — far away from massively crowded beaches. Made from lightweight carbon-fibre composite construction and powerful full-electric jet drive, it’s capable of reaching high velocities, making the Lampuga as fast, agile and smooth as the marine creature which shares its name: the dolphinfish, one of the fastest fish in the world.

lampugaUsing a brushless synchronous motor powered by a 52-volt lithium-ion battery that provides 20 to 35 minutes of runtime and up to 12 miles, this electric surfboard is claimed to have a top speed of 34 MPH. Wow! Due to its light weight, handling of the Lampuga is incredibly easy. There’s no need for a training session before you could start your surfing, the board is controlled by a steering belt which also carries the accelerator throttle. It’s attached to the bow of the board, providing a secure connection and full control. Built-in battery and motor parts keep the Lampuga always safe. In case you might lose control, an automated emergency stop mechanism will ensure that the power to the engine is shut off instantly.

With a price tag of $17,400 not everyone will be able to afford it, but I’m sure the price will come down as this exhilarating toy takes off.
