Want To Get Anywhere? Elon Musk Wants To Take You There In an Hour

Travel is a lot of things to a lot of people, that’s something we can all agree on. And why shouldn’t it? Long waits, delays, cancellations and, all too often, even longer travel times. While travel times have come a long way since, well, civilisation began, it’s still got a long way to go.

Curring it down from travel that lasted months to weeks and now hours. But for people like Elon Musk, that’s still hours too many and is proposing the incredible and almost surreal. So why not take two of his companies and mash them together to solve this problem? Not a bad idea in the mind of Musk, claiming that the mashup will slash travel times to an hour.

Go anywhere [worldwide] in an hour with Musk

You read it correctly, the collaboration between Space X and Boring plans to slash travel times dramatically. And it plans to do so through digging tunnels for wide-reaching hyperloop highways. The mashup is a joint innovation to coincide with Musks own ambition to colonise Mars. While, at the same time, developing a transport system as space-age as interstellar travel.

So how far away is this potential record and mind breaking technology? It’s already being talked about on Twitter and in California. Currently, the tunnel is only 100 metres long, but plans are underway to have it expanded by 2 miles. While the tunnels are in their infancy in areas like California, worldwide tunnels may be further away.

But who wouldn’t want to go from one side of the world to another in just an hour? All we need is patience and a tolerance for being underground I suppose!
