The Concept Bike By BMW Motorrad Is One Impressive Ride

BMW had more than one concept vehicle at this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. Besides the 3.0 CSL Hommage study, there was also the BMW Motorrad Concept 101 motorcycle, a big touring bike that is described by the manufacturer’s head of design as “the perfect embodiment of American touring”.

For the German company, this model represents pure elegance, power and luxury on two wheels.

The Concept 101 is BMW’s interpretation of a “bagger” – a type of custom bike popular in the US. It features incredible torque with its 1,649cc (101 cubic inch) six-cylinder engine. Its streamlined and elongated body is made from carbon fiber materials and features a dark wood trim, brushed aluminum accents, black leather seats, LED taillights, a sporty dual exhaust system, and two side cases with matching wood trim.

“Designing this big touring bike study was amazingly exciting for us because we haven’t been involved with a motorcycle concept like this before. To me, the Concept 101 is the epitome of elegance, power and luxury on two wheels” said Edgar Heinrich, Head of BMW Motorrad Design.

The bike was built by custom bike specialist Roland Sands in close collaboration with the BMW Motorrad design team.
