R2-D2 Plane Will Take To The Skies This Fall
This might not be the droid you’re looking for, but a plane painted to look like R2-D2 could be the next best thing for Star Wars fans waiting for The Force Awakens.
Now this is a plane that I would love to see in person. It’s been a crazy week for “Star Wars” fans, what with the release of a new trailer for “The Force Awakens” leaving many viewers openly in tears on Thursday.
The cockpit and front half of the white fuselage are painted with blue panels in the shape of those on the droid. Star Wars is also written on the body of the plane behind the wing.
On top of the new trailer release and Twitter emojis, Japanese carrier All Nippon Airways has announced a five-year “Star Wars Project.” The main feature is an R2-D2-themed plane.
The decorated Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner looks pretty spiffy and is scheduled to set flight this fall—right before Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters December 18th.
