Lotus C-01 Is Ready To Speed Up

Keep calm and twist the throttle.

Two years ago, Lotus said that they were working on a new motorcycle model which will be the dream of any motorcycle rider. And now, when the year is about to close, the finished production version of that “dream-superbike” was revealed.

“I was one of the first people to ride it and I have to say I was very impressed. Together we have found that delicate balance between raw, aggressive power and breath-taking handling. The team has created something very special, it looks incredible, it sounds fantastic but above all, the ride is sensational. I’m very happy.” said Gunther Holzer, CEO of Holzer Group.

Frankly, it’s hard to keep your mind concentrated on those technical information/design descriptions while there is a real street-monster standing right in front of you. Those who recognize my regular writing structure will notice this article is completely re-structured.  Now, let’s brake the bike, turn the engine off, and start our story from the beginning.

The original idea to create the C-01 came from Kodewa’s Director Colin Kolles as “set out to create a bike that isn’t just great to ride but also represents a piece of art in motion.” So then, two years were dedicated to careful planning and intense development with the collaboration between motorsport veterans under the leadership of Kodewa and Group Lotus.

In charge of design is Daniel Simon, who you might remember as the designer of the light cycles in the movie Tron:Legacy, what this bike brings to the market is a unique combination of both: state-of-the-art technology with a truly jaw-dropping aesthetic. Not every designer can see the beauty of carbon fiber and titanium, except Simon. It gives the bike a light, sleek and futuristic-looking body, while the four-stroke 1195cc V-twin engine cranking out 200-hp.

“The design process of the C-01 was a labour of love, there were many challenges, ensuring that the bike not only touches your visual senses with its timeless blend of classic appeal and modern execution, but that is safe and ergonomically sound was critical to me. We have worked hard to create a motorcycle with very distinctive feature such as a clean main body, an extremely low side profile, a bold stance, a unique air intake, logical partline solutions and clean graphics,” said Simon.

A bike for non-compromised personality! Therefore, only 100 units will be available. But the company also offers a range of liveries some of which pay homage to Lotus’ sporting pedigree, and a customization service is also available, limited only by the imagination of the client.

There is no price tag yet, but a dream is invaluable!
