Ken Block Unveils Crazy Retro Mustang
If you haven’t lost a few hours to watching Ken Block’s gymkhana video series, you probably should start now. Without spoiling the spectacle, the episodes follow Block as he uses overpowered cars to terrorize racetracks and public roads by drifting within inches of barriers and occasionally humans.
In a break away from tradition, trick rally driver Ken Block will abandon his 2013 Ford Fiesta ST in favor of the fearsome 845 horsepower all-wheel drive 1965 Ford Mustang notchback for the next iteration in the wildly popular Gymkhana series. Built over two years and the result of a unique collaboration between Ken Block, Hoonigan Racing Division and automotive tuning brand RTR, the Ford Hoonicorn RTR is a one-off and features 6.7-liter V8 engine producing an astonishing 845hp, mated to a unique Sadev all-wheel drive system. As for the car’s looks, the design took inspiration from current WRC and DTM cars, as well as toy cars from Block’s childhood.
“I’ve always been a Mustang fan,” says Block, “but especially the old Mustangs. It’s the original muscle car.”
Stay tuned for the release of Gymkhana 7.
