Need to Find the Nearest Bike-Sharing Station? Apple Maps Will Show You the Way

Apple wants you to get on your bike.

Apple Maps has had a bit of an upgrade. According to TechCrunch, Apple has signed a partnership with Ito World to add bike-sharing data in Apple Maps in over 175 cities across 36 countries. Need a Ford GoBike in San Francisco? Need to find the nearest station? Just type “bike sharing” into Apple Maps’ search bar and it will find the nearest stations, so you’ll know where to pick up and drop off a bike. It’s just as simple as that.

Ito says its global bike-share data, “curates and integrates the disparate data of Bike Share schemes around the world,” in real time. But TechCrunch says Apple Maps doesn’t tell you how many bikes are at a given location, just that bikes should be available at an address or intersection. The app supports services such as Citi Bike, Ford’s GoBike, and Biketown, among others.

Should you say goodbye to Google Maps? Not just yet.
