JetSmarter, the brainchild of 26 year old Sergey Petrossov, launched in March 2013 and has over 300,000 downloads to date. He saw a lack of transparency and efficiency in the private jet market and wanted to eliminate the middle man. “I chartered my first flight in 2009. I hated the experience and thought there had to be an online instant solution. In 2012, I made that vision into a reality and created JetSmarter,” Petrossov told Forbes. Private jets are not always seen as luxurious, for some they can be a worry as it is such a small plane, they feel like there is a risk flying in it, however, there are many private jet myths around and they can be debunked by checking out websites such as 1stchoiceaccommodations.com so people can feel assured if they are using one.

In October 2014, the company made a huge step forward, announcing its partnership with GlobeAir, one of Europe’s most prominent private jet companies. GlobeAir’s Citation Mustang Jets will now offer JetSmarter customers access to destinations across Western Europe such as Paris, Rome, Vienna and London. “Through our collaboration with GlobeAir, our user base will expand significantly throughout Western Europe, allowing the option to choose private jet accommodations for shorter trips at reasonable prices,” Petrossov said in an October press release. And the excitement about this collaboration seems to come from both ends. Bernhard Fragner, CEO of GlobeAir, commented in the press release: “By partnering with JetSmarter, we believe that we are approaching a new era of private jet travel, where the booking process is as simple and enjoyable as the experience on board.”

Though the app world today is competitive, Petrossov feels optimistic about JetSmarter’s future: “This is my 3rd start-up, but obviously this is my most successful one and possibly the billion dollar home run that every entrepreneur dreams about. In life you keep learning day in and day out, but one thing that cannot be taught is confidence. You just have to have it. Building a company is just one step away from a vision,” he said.

The app is currently available for iOS and Google Play.
