Check out this mammoth tree house, built in the most literal sense possible in Turin, Italy. Crafted out of a potted forest of trees and steel beams, this 5-story apartment building acts as a natural air purifier. The 150 trees absorb 200,000 liters of carbon dioxide an hour, providing pollution protection and eliminating harmful greenhouse gases from cars, while also blocking out harsh noises and sounds. The trees’ seasonal progression also provides a microclimate inside the building, creating temperate climates by letting sunlight in during the colder months and offering shade during the summer. Designed by Luciano Pia, the structure is beautiful and organic, housing 63 units among various meticulously chosen plants and foliage.
