The First Image of Uber’s Self Driving Car
Uber’s quickly expanding service has been setting up shop in Pittsburgh where it now has it’s Advanced Technologies Center. Not much has caught the attention of Pittsburgh residents from the Advanced Tech Center– well until now.
Uber has started releasing it’s self driving cars into the streets for testing. Although they haven’t officially announced it to the city, they aren’t really hiding it either. The car has the words “Uber Advanced Technologies Center” written on the side and a huge device which seems to be sensors and cameras on the hood.
“This vehicle is part of our early research efforts regarding mapping, safety and autonomy systems,” Uber spokeswoman Trina Smith has been recorded as stating. The company has been very honest and forward about their actions in Pittsburgh, announcing early on that the center would focus on mapping and autonomous technology. At this point it’s a race to see who can take the market first, Uber or Google.
