100% Torque: Use It Wisey Kids

Electric-car ads typically emphasize efficiency and sustainability, but electric power offers other advantages too.

In “Easy Thrills,” its latest video ad for the Leaf plug-in, Nissan shows how an electric motor’s instantly-available torque can enliven the driving experience.

Unlike internal combustion engines, electric motors, don’t need to rev to produce maximum torque.

Since all of the motor’s torque is available at any speed, electric cars tend to be more responsive when pulling away from a stop.

With a relatively modest 107 horsepower and 187 pound-feet of torque, the Leaf may not win many drag races, but its more-responsive electric powertrain can still prove beneficial in everyday driving.

As demonstrated in the ad, it can be quite handy when merging onto a highway.
